November 5, 2022 Louisiana Gumbo Hour with Terrance Jones

Written by on November 5, 2022

Terrence “Ta-Ta” Jones was born in New Orleans, Louisiana but was reared in the small town of Lutcher, Louisiana in St. James Parish. Mr. Jones attended Elementary, Junior and Senior High School in Lutcher where he was a 1984 Parade Magazine High School All-American Quarterback and a member of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association High School All State Basketball team. Prior to graduating from Lutcher High in the summer of 1985, Mr. Jones accepted an athletic football scholarship from Tulane University during the 1985 Spring signing period.

As a former high school, college, and professional football player I accepted the obligation of responding to interview questions in real time both during and after games, won or lost.  Upon countless business, community and youth speaking engagements post professional football playing days, the experiences inspired and provided me the confidence to create and be on the other side of the lens, questions, and microphones.

The show’s name was birthed from my collegiate football days at Tulane University during the summer of 1988. The Athletic Department decided I was worthy of a Heisman Trophy campaign. Thus, they came up with the name “Louisiana Jones”.

It was a theme and play on words from the Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones movies. Huge billboards in and around the Superdome and the New Orleans area was erected leading up to the Fall of 1988. Unfortunately, it was short lived, but I had a lot of fun making the poster with my teammates. I added the “Gumbo” verbiage because it is synonymous with New Orleans and its culture, a little bit of everything.

In that spirit, the TLJGH content will consist of topics or I like to say ingredientsfrom the Academic, Alumni, Business, Sports, Workforce and Youth arenas. One of the show’s purpose is to promote positive and thought-provoking dialogue between/with the host, sponsors, guests and listening audience. We will accomplish this with a P.U.S.H (#positiveunlimitedsuccincthabits) and the A.O.B.C (#athleticolivebranchcoalition).
